The Green Balkans team joined the Regional Natural History Museum – Plovdiv in the organization of the Young Blue Earth festival. The event was held on the 20th – 22nd April at the Reginal Natural History Museum, Plovdiv.
On the 20th April, Saturday, the ‘Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons’ project team celebrated the 2019 Earth Day within the Young Blue Earth festival. We had prepared different activities for all participants, all related to rare and protected species in Bulgaria, such as the red-breasted goose, griffon vulture, sandwich tern, bats and cetaceans. We joined this year’s Earth Day motto – Protect Our Species.
Our griffon vulture model was a real star of the show due to the recent news about Nelson, the griffon vulture spy, caught in Yemen for espionage. We had prepared information brochures for the older and an art atelier for the younger where they could create their own rare species decorations. We also had our own ‘Black sea’ model which the young nature lovers could ‘clean up’ using special fishing rods. We told everyone interesting facts about different species in our country and along the seaside.
The bad weather didn’t stop us and we continued our fun games inside the museum hall.
