An international workshop within the framework of the EOL project brought together experts, civil society, and local institutions from three countries - Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey - in Istanbul. Together, they discussed the gaps in their national legislation and initiatives regarding environmental and ocean literacy. Relevant solutions and changes were proposed to meet the contemporary needs of society and adapt the work of the countries to the best global practices in this regard.

The results of this seminar will serve to prepare a White Paper, which will summarize the current situation, challenges, and recommendations to responsible institutions and NGOs regarding environmental and ocean literacy in the Black Sea.

In times when there is less and less space left for wildlife, this is vital to ensure the protection of the Black Sea ecosystems and the resources they provide to society as a whole.

The workshop is being held within the framework of the project BSB00432 "Environmental and Ocean Literacy in the Black Sea Basin", co-financed by the EU through the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021-2027 program.
