At the end of October, Mrs. Gergana Komitska and Ecoclub "Detelini" from the school Hr. Botev, Vratsa celebrated Black Sea Day at school with a presentation, discussion and quiz.
The motto of the event was "For the beauty, cleanliness and future of our common sea". Students from the all-day organization of the school day groups, led by Velika Petkova, Vilma Damyanova and Iva Dimitrova, took part in the event. Through a presentation, Lucia Banova from the 8th grade emphasizes what the sea gives us, what are the biggest threats to the Black Sea ecosystem and the ways each of us can contribute to the protection of the Black Sea by saving water and protecting natural waters in the settlement, in which lives.
Mrs. Gergana Komitska held an interesting discussion with the audience - the children shared their experience in saving water. In turn, the "Detelini" showed a video in which they shared how taking care of our river, which belongs to the watershed of the Danube River, is actually taking care of the Black Sea as well. The activities of the "Detelini" ecoclub as part of the Youth Water Parliament were also shared. Kristina Hristova and Ines Krasteva from the 7th grade had prepared a quiz in which the curious public demonstrated an enviable knowledge of the Black Sea and the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
All students from the Detelini ecoclub received the children's book about the dolphin Kaya, as well as a memory game with the species inhabiting the Black Sea.
International Black Sea Day is traditionally celebrated on October 31. On this day in 1996, the Strategic Plan for the Black Sea was signed. The governments of the Black Sea countries accept that the pollution of our common sea creates risks for all bordering countries. The day is celebrated by 6 million people from 6 countries - these are the people who live along the coast of the Black Sea.
