To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Natura 2000 network we joined forces with the BBF and the Pomiisko Lake Visitors Centre to celebrate the Natura 2000 Day in Pomorie.
Natura 2000 is the largest coordinated network for the protection of rare and protected species in Europe. It covers almost 35% of Bulgarian territory – including 120 special protection areas for the protection of rare birds and 234 special conservation areas for the protection of habitats.
The Green Balkans team along with BBF and the Information Centre held and information campaign to popularize rare species from the Bulgarian fauna. The ‘Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons’ and the ‘Life for Pomorie lagoon’ project teams shared interesting and little known facts about the Pomorie Lake. Most interesting for our visitors was the opportunity to watch some of the species on the lake – the Sandwich Tern, Black-winged Stilt, Pied Аvocet and many more.
We finished off with interactive games and puzzles with interesting information.
